The area around Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala is offering a packed
programme of events to brighten up the festive season for residents and tourists
alike. This is the most eagerly awaited time of year,
with towns and villages adorned with brightly coloured lights waiting to
surround you with a touch of magic.
From the Father Christmas Village to Christmas markets packed with local
crafts, food and wine, from artistic workshops at Vetulonia's
museum, MUVET, to events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Italo Calvino.
Special attention is always paid to children, for whom Christmas magic is most
important, with storytelling and educational workshops. Expect to be moved and
completely involved in the live nativity scene along the streets of Castiglione
della Pescaia.
Celebrate the New Year with a New Year's Eve
beach party starting at 11 p.m. that will include light displays and djset with
La Capannina disco. The traditional, first swim of the year has been confirmed
for New Year's Day together with the first parade of the people's stocking for
the families of Castiglione della Pescaia in the afternoon. Lastly, Tirli,
Buriano and Vetulonia will be organising celebrations for the Epiphany and
Italy's folklore figure, La Befana.

Christmas markets near Castiglione della Pescaia
Christmas is the time to discover traditions, including the ever popular Christmas
markets. The Maremma area offers a wide range where you can find some original
gifts.
One of these is the
little market in Tirli, a hamlet of Castiglione della Pescaia, where you
can taste local products and visit Santa's Grotto, or Bagno di Gavorrano,
which has craft markets, children's events and loads of surprises.
